Working Schedule

“Balancing Emotions: An ‘’Inside-Out’’ journey through Math and Steam’’ is an innovative and engaging project designed for preschool children (4-6 years old).

It will last from October 2024 to May 2025.

Through this project we explore and balance the emotions of joy, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and love, through the approach of STEAM and mathematical  activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).Trying to understand, recognize and balance our emotions, Leo the Balancer, a small lion with a special ability to understand and balance emotions, as well as solve mathematical problems, will help us!

Project members will work in six groups of 4 (or 5) people. In a joint collaborative document they will state the team they want to work with.

The project is divided into 6  sections  and in each section the task team has to read and edit the story about Leo the balancer and his  friend, who asks his help, by making the challenge mission and  uploading it on an interactive dashboard like Genial.ly. In addition, the task team  has to  prepare  the concept map, the STEΑΜ activities, the collaborative  activities, the code activity, the worksheets and, the online games,by using web 2.0 tools, and it has to upload the links of  them  on the same Genial.ly. In a joint collaborative document each partner  will choose activities and responsibilities those  wants to undertake.

The place and importance of the STEAM education and emotional education in early education

Integrating STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and emotional education into our curriculum for children aged 3 to 6 years.

🔬 STEAM Education: Incorporating STEAM in early education helps children develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By engaging in hands-on activities, our students explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in a fun and interactive way, laying a strong foundation for future learning.

💖 Emotional Education: Equally important is the emotional development of our children. We emphasize teaching emotional intelligence, empathy, and self-regulation. Through guided activities, children learn to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and develop a strong sense of self-worth.

These educational approaches ensure that our students are not only prepared academically but also emotionally, setting them up for lifelong success.

In early education, the foundations we build are crucial for a child’s overall development.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Education and Emotional Education both play a vital role in the all-round development of students from a young age.

STEAM education encourages children to explore, experiment, and think critically. By integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, we help young learners develop problem-solving skills and creativity. Early exposure to STEAM concepts fosters curiosity and a love for learning.

Emotional education is equally essential in early years and supports a child’s social and emotional growth.

It helps children recognize, understand, and manage their emotions. By teaching emotional awareness, we provide children with the skills they need to handle social interactions, cope with challenges, and develop empathy.

Combining STEAM with Emotional education creates a holistic approach to early education. As children explore STEAM subjects, they also learn to navigate their feelings, collaborate with peers, and express themselves.

Both STEAM and Emotional education are essential in early education, laying the groundwork for children to become capable, curious, and compassionate individuals.

Balancing Emotions: An 'Inside Out' Journey through Math and STEAM

Balancing Emotions: An ‘’Inside-Out’’ journey through Math and Steam is an eTwinning project that enhances the cognitive and emotional development of kindergarten children aged 4-6 years.

The duration of the program will be from October 2024 to May 2025 and 24 teachers from 6 countries, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia will participate in it.

During the project and through appropriately structured activities, kindergarten students  will discover, recognize and accept  six basic emotions, joy, sadness, surprise/excitement, anger, fear and love, and they will learn how important it is to be able to  manage and balance our emotions so that they don't complicate our daily lives and we can move on.

Our Goal in the Project

Through the activities of this  project  we would like to cultivate both the teaching goals and the spirit of cooperation with other countries of different language and culture.

  • We aim to help our students recognize and understand their emotions, using Leo the Balancer as a guide to explore feelings and how they influence our daily lives.
  • By teaching students strategies to balance their emotions, we hope to equip them with the tools they need to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.
  • In the learning process, students participate actively, responsibly and creatively
  • We’ll encourage the use of technology and Web 2.0 tools to enhance learning, collaboration, and creativity.
  • Through our project, we’ll model and encourage teamwork, empathy, and respect, both in our classrooms and among ourselves as educators.
  • We will integrate math into our project to show students how it connects to real-life situations, helping them see math as a valuable tool for solving problems and making informed decisions.
  • By incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, we’ll engage students in creative and critical thinking, experiment, sparking curiosity and a chance for exploring the world around them.
  • Our lessons will be designed to be engaging and meaningful, making learning enjoyable while integrating emotions, math, and STEAM concepts.
